I'm taking on a challenge: documenting my entire learning journey publicly. Every week, I'll share what I learned, what I built, and what confused me.

Week 1 is all about foundations—Linux and Networking. Why? Because everything in cloud runs on Linux, and you can't understand Azure networking later if you skip these fundamentals now.

I'm learning from Abhishek Veeramalla's YouTube channel and GitHub repos (highly recommend if you're starting out too).

My Setup: Using WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux 2) for hands-on Linux practice.

This week, I'm covering:

• Linux: Linux file system and directory structure, basic commands, file permissions, text editor, Learn about users, groups, and sudo permissions

• Networking: OSI Model, IP address, DNS, Various Ports, TCP & UDP, Networking Commands.

What I'm Learning This Week

Linux Topics:

• Linux file system and directory structure

• Basic commands (ls, cd, cp, mv, rm, mkdir)

• File permissions and ownership (chmod, chown)

• Users, groups, and sudo permissions

• Text editors (nano)

Networking Topics:

• OSI Model basics

• IP addresses and subnets

• DNS (Domain Name System)

• Ports and protocols

• TCP vs UDP

• Networking commands (ping, nslookup, ipconfig)

My Hands-On Plan This Week

I'm setting up WSL2 today and diving straight in.

Plan:

• Days 1-2: Linux file system, basic commands in WSL2 terminal

• Days 3-4: File permissions and user management

• Days 5-6: OSI model deep dive and IP addressing

• Days 7: Networking commands and DNS practice

Committing 6-7 hours daily—50% video learning + 50% hands-on terminal work.
